When i delete a pdf from my downloads folder






















I just wasn't sure if there were existing duplicates elsewhere. If I delete them, they are gone for good. If I wish to save them, then I need to actively move the files. Correct folks? As I wrote above, you don't actively need to do anything. They won't automatically get deleted, but a problem might cause them to be. If you move them to another location on the volume, you're not creating a duplicate. If you copy them to an external drive, you are. I guess my questions are originating from my PC years in which it was efficient to keep the downloads folder effectively cleaned out and uncluttered.

There's A LOT of files in there! Which is why i was wondering if I 'should be' deleting items, for the sake of a healthier operating system. Anyhow, as informed, since my PDFs are NOT saved elsewhere on my Mac, looks like I will need to scavenge through and figure out which ones to keep and which ones to delete.

IMHO if you have them so long and did nothing with them why not trash them. Or sort then by time arrived and delete the oldest ones, or sort them by kind and do the same.
